She currently leads the Medicines Value Programme for the North East and North Cumbria Provider Collaborative – a regionwide initiative spanning 11 NHS Foundation Trusts, with strategic responsibility for over £665 million of medicines expenditure.
Her career has taken her from rotational clinical pharmacy through to senior lead pharmacist roles across integrated care, neurosciences and community services. She is an independent prescriber, a published researcher in the Pharmaceutical Journal and IJPP, and a national speaker, most recently at the HSJ Medicines Forum. She is currently completing an MBA.

How Katie Thinks
Katie approaches every challenge by asking what the evidence actually says, and whether the financial assumptions underneath a strategy hold up under scrutiny. She is collaborative by instinct but direct by necessity: she will challenge a model that does not serve patients, advocate publicly for medicines equity, and build the cross-organisational relationships needed to make change stick. Her background as a clinician means she never loses sight of what the numbers represent. Her training as a strategist means she knows how to move them.
“The NHS spends billions on medicines. The question isn’t whether we can afford innovation – it’s whether we have the systems, the evidence and the will to use it wisely.”
